La Trypanosomiase Humaine en Afrique Intertropicale

By A. SICE, M.D. With a Preface by PROFESSOR MESNIL. Illustrated. Pp. xi + 306. Vigot Frères, Paris, 1937

Chas. F. Craig

This monograph, treating of African trypanosomiasis, should prove of great interest and value to all who have to do with these infections, as it is thoroughly up-to-date and considers every phase of these important disease conditions. It has been many years since an authoritative work has appeared upon the tryposomiases of Africa and for this reason the present volume should receive a warm welcome, as it contains a summary of all of the data relating to the subject, data that are so scattered in the literature in many languages as to be inaccesible to most students and practitioners.

The subject is considered in five chapters. Chapter I discusses the definition, history and geographical distribution of the infection; Chapter II, the etiology and epidemiology; Chapter III, the symptomatology, pathology and diagnosis; Chapter IV, the treatment, and Chapter V, the prophylaxis of African trypanosomiases.
