This monograph, by an author who is generally recognised as one of the world authorities on amebiasis, meets a very pressing need on the part of the medical profession and medical laboratory workers. The epidemic of amebic dysentery in Chicago in 1933 emphasized the general lack of knowledge of this important subject and created a demand for an authoritative treatise which would present both the scientific and practical aspects of amebiasis. The book is divided into twelve chapters dealing with the history, geographical distribution, etiology, epidemiology, pathology, symptomatology, complications, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, prognosis, prophylaxis and treatment of amebiasis and amebic dysentery.
