The First Fatal Case of Chagas' Disease Observed on the Isthmus of Panama1

1. There is presented a report of an autopsy upon a three-months-old, black male Panama native, the first fatal case of Chagas' disease that has been discovered on the Isthmus of Panama.
2. In this case Trypanosoma cruzi in their leishmania forms were numerous in the myocardium and sparse in the brain, and they caused a severe diffuse myocarditis and a widespread focal encephalitis.
