This booklet appears to have been written for the express purpose of stimulating lay interest in the hygienic problems of the natives in the British Colonial possessions.

The information imparted is terse and to the point and treats the subject from the standpoint of the house, the water supply and the latrine. There are short descriptions of the principle tropical diseases, their vectors and simple suggestions regarding prophylaxis.

One gains the general impression that while the humanitarian angle is not completely lost sight of, the chief interest lies in keeping the native well or at least on his feet so that he can work for the commercial interests of the British Empire.
