As stated by the author in his preface, no book or comprehensive summary on hookworm disease has appeared since the text by Dock and Bass in 1913. A vast amount of information on the subject has accumulated in the past fifteen years and Professor Chandler has done a valuable service in making available in the present volume the results of research by the numerous workers in this field. The author has himself devoted some years to the study of this particular subject and is thus peculiarly qualified to present a summary of our knowledge of hookworm disease.

The book covers hookworm disease in all its aspects. The chapters are as follows: Historical Introduction; The Adult Worms; The Life Cycle and Mode of Infection; Epidemiology; Environmental Factors; Epidemiology; Human Factors; Pathology; Diagnosis; Treatment; Prevention and Control. The appendix on technical methods is excellent. The bibliography is extensive and valuable.
