1. Twenty patients who had Entamoeba histolytica cysts in theirfeces were treated for 10 days with 30 mg Humatin per kg ofbody weight daily.
2. Among 14 of the patients, whose stoolswere examined dailyduring treatment, the mean time requiredfor them to be clearedof cysts of E. histolytica was 3.7 days.
3. Nineteen patients have been followed up for periods rangingfrom 1 month to over 1 year after treatment and one has relapsed.
4. Six patients suffered from diarrhea which was apparentlya side effect of the drug. The diarrhea ceased soon after completionof treatment.
5. No evidence of side effects of the drug onthe blood or urinewas obtained in these patients.
