The Effect of Cortisone and Prednisone on Bullous Reactions Following Treatment of Filariasis with Diethylcarbamazine1

Résumé: L'emploi du diethylcarbamazine contre la filariose entraine chez environ 1 pour cent des Polynésiens traités, un type particulier de réaction appellé réaction bulleuse. Il s'agit probablement d'une reaction allergique, comparable à celle d'Herxheimer dans la syphilis. Elle est différente de la réaction plus fréquente attribuée à la destruction immédiate des microfilaires dans le courant sanguin. Elle survient plus tardivement. La cortisone et la prednisone semblent susceptibles d'interrompre ce type de réaction qui suit l'administration de diethylcarbamazine chez les personnes hébergeant des microfilaires.
