St. Louis encephalitis virus has been isolated from three ground pool-breeding species of mosquitoes collected in Trinidadian forests. Identity was established by comparison with a known strain of St. Louis virus and other related viruses. These represent the first strains of St. Louis virus known to be isolated from mosquitoes outside of the continental United States.
