The text of Dr. Donald Krogstad's Presidential Address that created so much interest at the Society's Annual Meeting in Seattle opens this issue of the Journal. As Editor, I have read this document a number of times and I continue to be impressed with the straightforward way in which it challenges the membership of the Society to seek to be the best it can be. Ours is an important organization and we have an opportunity to make a difference in one of the really noble efforts to engage humankind at the end of this century. The issue is clear: better health for millions in the developing world. I believe that Don's presentation will do much to keep us focused on this important goal. It is recommended for all our readers.
