The 41st Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene would be considered a success by almost any measure. There were more than 900 registrants and the scientific sessions were heavily attended. The local arrangements committee went all out to provide facilities and accommodations for a large and complex scientific program and to give the people attending the meeting an opportunity to savor the flavor and ambience of a truly impressive city. The Society owes a real debt of gratitude to Elaine Jong, Steven Reed and members of their committee.
The general impression is that the scientific content of the Annual Meeting is enhanced each year. Certainly the full program organized by Dr. Thomas Monath and his committee testifies to the growing strength of our Society. The variety and pertinence of the numerous symposia were particularly rewarding and it is hoped that material presented in some of these sessions will become the focus for supplements to the Journal in the coming year.
