McWilson Warren

The transfer of the Journal's editorial offices and responsibilities from Baltimore to Atlanta has been a complicated process. It was considered to be absolutely essential that the computer programs so carefully developed by Dr. Tigertt be adopted. With this issue that transition is complete.

Communication and the exchange of ideas are fundamental precepts of our Society and the publication of the Journal is a very important factor in this process. It is my firm conviction that the Journal ultimately belongs to the membership of the Society. As Editor, it is my responsibility to bring into focus the talents and interests of a large number of people, Society members and nonmembers, toward the exchange of ideas and transmission of new information. The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene cannot survive without someone in charge, but it is important that in carrying out this mandate I remain mindful that it is not the Editor who is most important in this process, but the investigators whose reports appear on its pages.
