Severe Falciparum Malaria: Survival without Exchange Transfusion

A case of severe falciparum malaria with trophozoites in 71% of the patients' erythrocytes is described. The patient was treated with high dose quinine and made an uneventful recovery. Exchange transfusion was not performed.
