Rapid Communications

The following paragraphs initially were published in the January 1985 issue (Volume 34) and are repeated here to insure that readers of the Journal are aware of this capability:

"Developments in electronics now are such that a brief note received in the editor's office before 15 February, 15 April, 15 June, 15 August or 15 October can be printed in the issue of the Journal published the following month, in contrast to the lag period of 6–7 months for regular publication. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will be subject to a more rigorous peer review than those regularly published in the Journal.

"Authors interested in submitting such a manuscript will be expected to notify the Editor by telephone of their intentions, at which time there will be a consideration of the appropriateness of the article, and of the type of material desired for editorial review.
