This is a short paperback book which does an excellent job of melding the fields of parasitology and immunology. The author presents descriptions of selected areas of immunoparasitology in a very lucid and readable manner. The basics of current immunology are presented and the life cycles of the various hostparasite systems are briefly reviewed in such a way that investigators and students in either immunology or parasitology are introduced to the field of immunoparasitology.

Wakelin's contribution would be very attractive as supplemental reading for a course in immunoparasitology. In addition to its inexpensiveness, the many figures, tables and charts, thorough index, and numerous chapter subheadings will appeal to students. The suggestionsl for further reading and the list of citations in the rear of the book are very helpful to the student or investigator who may wish to pursue particular areas in greater depth.
