Some 14 years have passed since the eighth edition of Craig and Faust's Clinical Parasitology was published, and 47 years since the first edition. There is no paucity of texts on medical parasitology and tropical medicine; indeed, several countries have come to consider a major arbeit in the field almost a matter of national pride, viz. Brumpt, Castellani, Manson, Leuckart, Belding, Chatterjee, Kouri, and others. In the United States, a spate of texts has been published recently—as though each institution needed special representation.

But Craig and Faust is different, and the ninth edition—written by Paul Beaver, Rodney Jung, and Eddie Cupp—emphasizes that difference. Continuing to provide a unique fusion between the contributions of a superb morphologist and those of an experienced clinician, the work is by far the most complete and best presentation of clinical parasitology that is available today. In quality, it is reminiscent of Wenyon's two-volume classic on protozoology.
