In this introductory text, the authors cover the subject of parasitology in a most interesting and stimulating manner. I have found this book to be an excellent selection for a beginning course, and the students who have used the book like it, in part because it is of considerable help in the laboratory portion of a general parasitology course.

In this edition, the authors have adequately satisfied the major criticism of the first edition, by including a new section on medical entomology. Most subject matter areas have been up-dated and expanded. The 41 chapters are appropriately arranged, each with a concise introduction; summaries are not included. The treatment of pathogenesis of most infections is good. All parts are well illustrated, and it is apparent that the authors have made a real effort to seek out the best and most informative photographs and drawings.Although the method of reproduction of many figures is less than adequate,it is assumed that the method employed, and the paper used have helped to keep this book at a reasonable price.
