TRICHINELLOSIS is a collection of research papers on Trichinella, which were presented at the Fifth International Conference on Trichinellosis held in Noordwijk aan Zee, The Netherlands in 1980. The proceedings is divided into ten parts covering the biology, immunology, immunopathology, pathology, clinical aspects, chemotherapy, epidemiology and control of trichinellosis.

The high quality of the majority of the papers contained in this volume reflects a continued worldwide interest in both experimental and clinical aspects of trichinellosis.

Work reported on characterization of strains of T. spiralis, including T. pseudospiralis, isolated from a variety of ecologically distinct regions represents a concerted approach to defining more precisely the biological differences among isolates of Trichinella now in current use throughout the world's research laboratories.

The overall presentation of the various papers is excellent and is a tribute to the editors whose job was not an easy one considering that some manuscripts had to first be translated into English before being added to the proceedings.
