This is an extremely well written and valuable book that successfully achieves its goal of presenting a current state of the art review of legionnaire's disease. The authors bring to this work not only their broad knowledge of a scientific literature that grows by the year but also their first hand experiences in managing patients with the disease. The authors are quite candid in characterizing this book as a review of the state of the art. Some might be inclined to think that such a review is not possible with an incompletely understood disease. New knowledge has been steadily accumulating each year since the disease first became known in 1976. Yet one must not lose sight of the fact that there is much that is already known about legionnaire's disease. And this is the principal focus of the book.

The book is divided into nine chapters that include an Introduction and Historical Review, Clinical Features, Clinical Diagnosis, Laboratory Diagnosis, Management, Pathology and Pathogenesis, Infectious Agent, Epidemiology and Recent Developments.
