Publications of most conference proceedings are of limited interest to variously specialized audiences. This compendium of the proceedings of the 25th OHOLO Biological Conference held in Zichron ya'acov, Israel, 1980 is an exception and will provide fascinating reading for anyone involved in the development or evaluation of vaccines. The 26 papers cover a wide spectrum of recent developments in vaccines for the prevention of bacterial, viral, and protozoan infections. The conference organizers picked internationally recognized leaders who have succintly presented information recently generated in their own and other laboratories. The book succeeds in conveying the excitement generated by the interaction of participants by including the dialogues and the round table discussion. The publishers, in an effort to release the proceedings promptly, reproduced the manuscripts as provided by the authors. While the editing is not as thorough as could be, the minor typographical and grammatical errors do not significantly detract from the overall value of the publication.
