Numerous publications have appeared recently on medicine and public health in the People's Republic of China, which have tended to emphasize the incorporation of traditional Chinese medicine into teaching and practice. In some instances, practitioners of western medicine have been decried, and institutions, such as the Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), have been criticized. Joshua A. Horn, Away With All Pests. On the surface, it seemed to many ... to be a purely philanthropic undertaking.
