Information from: Fatima Begum and C. L. Wisseman, Jr., Department of Microbiology, University of Maryland, 660 W. Redwood Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201, U.S.A., 25 July 1967.

Antigenic group: Ungrouped.

Original source: Isolated by Fatima Begum at Lahore, West Pakistan, from Hyalomma dromedarii collected from camel 4 April 1966 at Sakhi Sarwar, Dera Ghazi Khan District, Lat. 29° 58' N, Long. 70° 20' E. Habitat: Plains with acacia shrubs and bush vegetation. Semi-desert except where irrigated. Storage: Ticks reared in the laboratory for a week before inoculation into mice.

Method of isolation in laboratory: Ground suspension diluted in 0.75% bovine albumin in borate-saline solution, pH 9. Inoculated 0.01 ml ic in suckling Swiss albino mice on 12 April 1966.

Validity of isolation: Virus not reisolated. Original host camel not tested for homologous antibody formation.

Properties of virus: Physical: Filterable through Swinny type Millipore 220 nm. Chemical: No data.
