Dengue in Cambodia in 1963^*

Nineteen Laboratory-Proved Cases

The 650 adults and children of the American community in Cambodia were observed from 1 January to 31 December 1963 for the occurrence of dengue. All persons with fever during this period were examined, and 57 patients suspected of having dengue had serologic tests performed and attempts at virus isolation. Twelve patients had rises in serologic titer and seven others had serologic conversion plus dengue virus isolated from the blood. All 19 proved dengue infections occurred during the rainy season and were acquired in the city of Phnom Penh.
