This is the fourth edition of a book that first appeared in 1909. It deals with the various procedures used in teaching, research, and clinical diagnosis of the parasites of man and domestic animals, and, to some extent, of certain laboratory animals. Although some space is devoted to the identification of various parasites, internal and external, the emphasis is on techniques.

The book is divided into three sections: Protozoa (104 pp.), Helminths and Leeches (122 pp.), and Arthropods (119 pp.). At the end of the text is a reference list (61 pp.), divided into the same three headings. In each of the sections is a preliminary account of general techniques, followed by longer accounts dealing with special procedures used in the various classes, orders, or families.

Reichenow's section on protozoa was revised by Westphal.
