This volume is a compilation of studies on the in vitro cultivation of parasitic organisms. The book is divided into three parts: Part 1, Cultivation of Protozoa; Part 2, Cultivation of Helminths; and Part 3, Appendix. Numerous references are given at the end of each section. Indices, and a list of names and addresses of suppliers mentioned in the text, are included at the end of the volume.

For each of the species discussed, there are directions for the collection of the organisms, for preparation of culture media, culture vessels to be used, pH of medium, incubation temperature, and other pertinent procedures. The composition of each culture medium is given in full. References to the original work are included in text and cited at the end of each section.

The Appendix, entitled: "General Techniques and Media for Cultivation in vitro," contains sections on preparation of apparatus (glassware, instruments), methods of sterilization, preparation of media including the use of blood and tissue extracts, and a short section on tissue culture.
