It is with a sense of sadness with which this review is written, because Sir Philip Manson-Bahr died on November 19, 1966. It was my privilege to have been a student of his and intermittently since 1935 to have had personal contacts with him.

The text, first published in 1898, has been continuously revised, the last 10 editions being produced by Sir Philip H. Manson-Bahr. With the exception of a manual published in the United States since World War II, Manson-Bahr's text has been the only English language reference work which has been kept up to date through numerous revisions and editions. The present 16th edition follows the general format of the previous editions. A special chapter on ophthalmology in the tropics has been added. It must be emphasized also that the section on medical zoology in the appendix which covers more than 200 pages containing sections on medical protozoology,helminthology, entomology, and clinical pathology is in itself equal in value and as useful as the material contained in many short texts of medicalparasitology.
