Helmintiasis del Hombre en América

by JOSÉ F. MALDONADO, Cátedra de Zoología Médica, Escuela de Medicina Tropical, Universidad de Puerto Rico. xxviii + 529 pages, illustrated. Editorial Cientifico-Medica, Barcelona. 1965

Francisco J. Aguilar
Director General de Sanidad Pública de Guatemala Guatemala, C. A.

Professor Maldonado's book is the result of his intense dedication to the teaching of parasitology, and a desire to provide professors and students as comprehensive a presentation as possible regarding the various types of helminthiases which exist in the American continent. The book was published in Spain where the author spent his sabbatical year completing his writings. Prior to this he had visited many countries on the American continent, exchanging ideas with colleagues. The result is an extremely useful and up-to-date manual of medical helminthology with excellent content and original illustrations of high artistic quality.

The clear and descriptive language, the presentation of differing opinions of various authors, and the opportune use of bibliographic citations which leave no doubt as to the source of material, are undoubtedly some of the most interesting characteristics of the book.
