Human Infection with the Acanthocephalan Macracanthorhynchus Hirudinaceus in Bangkok: Report of a Case

A female acanthocephalan, Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus, was recovered post-mortem from a 32-year-old Thai woman who died of rheumatic heart disease in Bangkok. This is the first instance of this infection in Thailand and probably the second human case in the world.
