The World Problem of Salmonellosis

This rather massive book is a collection of solicited monographs upon different aspects of Salmonellosis by different authors in the language of the author's choice. Nine out of the 21 contributions are in English. The book is divided into two sections. The first one deals with general questions involving most salmonellae including serotyping, bacteriophage typing, the epidemiology in man and animals, bacterial genetics, and some host factors. There is little emphasis upon clinical topics or primary isolation procedures and difficulties. The second section includes accounts of the salmonella picture in different countries and regions by workers who have published extensively upon local problems. Most regions of the world are covered including Eastern and Western Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and some parts of Asia.

In the postface the editor comments upon the quandary that any editor must have in preparing a volume of this sort.
