This seventh and concluding volume in the Preventive Medicine series, the Medical Department, U.S. Army in World War II, contains authoritative reports on the arthropod-borne diseases other than malaria (Volume VI) in the various theaters of military operation during 1942–1945. Following a Foreword by Surgeon General Leonard D. Heaton, a Preface by the Section Editor, Doctor E. C. Hoff, and an Introduction by the late Doctor Henry S. Fuller, the following diseases are presented: Encephalitis (Albert B. Sabin), Bartonellosis (Marshall Hertig), Dengue (Oliver R. McCoy and Albert B. Sabin), Filariasis bancrofti (John Clyde Swartzwelder), Leishmaniasis (Henry E. Meleney), Plague (Karl F. Meyer and Oliver R. McCoy), Relapsing fever (Henry S. Fuller), Sandfly fever (Marshall Hertig and Albert B. Sabin), Typhus fevers (Stanhope Bayne-Jones), Scrub typhus and Scrub itch (Cornelius B. Philip), Rocky Mountain spotted fever (Glen M. Kohls), and yellow fever (Stanhope Bayne-Jones).
