Frequency of Trichomonas Vaginalis, Trichomonas Tenax and Entamoeba Gingivalis Infections and Absence of Correlation Between Oral and Vaginal Protozooses in Italian Women

I. de Carneri AND R. Giannone
Institute of Hygiene and Microbiology, University of Pavia, and Obstetrical and Gynecological Clinic, University of Pavia, Italy

Of 367 North Italian women, either gynecological or obstetrical patients, examined by combined culture methods, 111 were found to be infected by Trichomonas vaginalis, 159 by Trichomonas tenax and 138 by Entamoeba gingivalis. The statistical study of the eight possible combinations of the three infections does not reveal any relationship of association or exclusion among the three parasitoses.
