This volume represents an innovation. It is the first textbook devoted to the eradication of a disease, a textbook looking for Schools of Public Health with a course in Malaria Eradication. It is immediately essential for professional workers in courses in malaria eradication of the World Health Organization; for those working in malaria eradication throughout the world; and for those responsible for understanding and supporting malaria eradication projects. This textbook on malaria eradication is valuable also in the absence of any general textbook on the concept of eradication to those interested in the eradication of other diseases and disease vectors.

Dr. Pampana's book may be taken as the Official WHO Textbook of Malaria Eradication. The author was associated with the Health Section of the League of Nations for many years and came without interruption to direct the malaria activities of the World Health Organization from its inception to the date of his retirement in 1958.
