The Thirteenth Edition of Todd-Sanford Clinical Diagnosis by Laboratory Methods edited by Davidsohn-Wells has not only undergone complete revision but has also adopted a different approach to the presentation of the subject matter. Laboratory medicine has become too complex to be satisfactorily encompassed by two or three individuals so the various divisions have been revised by specialists in their individual fields.

The basic plan of presentation has been retained but material has been added in each section according to change in concept or increase in knowledge.

A most interesting introductory chapter The History of a Book and of a Medical Specialty contributed by the co-editor, Dr. Israel David-sohn, shows how the various editions of the Todd-Sanford text have mirrored the change in clinical pathology through the years.

Several topics of increasing importance are presented for the first time: Statistical Tools in Clinical Pathology by Dr. Bradley Copeland, Isotopology by Dr. Oscar B. Hunter, and Hospital Epidemiology by Dr. James G. Shaffer.
