This book was prepared to serve mainly as a laboratory manual. However, it promises to be helpful to everyone interested in mollusks and particularly mollusk intermediate hosts. While most books on parasitology and medical zoology have general references which are useful to the medical malacologist, few provide the kind of basic information contained in this manual. Since the Bequaert (1928) and the Abbott (1948) contributions to medical malacology are somewhat out of date, this new manual will be a welcome source of information. It contains useful information on snail morphology, classification, snail-host relations, culture methods, field and laboratory techniques, methods of snail control, and a good set of valuable references grouped according to subject matter. Consequently, this book is a useful guide both as a laboratory manual and as a source for general reference.

The author is well qualified to deal with this subject. He has had experience with snail control in Egypt and the Sudan.
