Monogenetic Trematodes. Their Systematics and Phylogeny

This volume, representing a translation of Bychowsky's monograph on the monogenetic trematodes which appeared in 1957, should be a welcome addition to any zoological library. It will be especially valuable to those of us who are interested in the monogeneans but who have little or no facility with the Russian language.

The book is divided into three parts. The first section deals with the morphology, biology, embryology, and life cycles of the monogenetic trematodes. Much of the material in this section is based upon the author's personal research over a period of 30 years, as well as upon that of his Soviet colleagues. References to literature on the subject by investigators in other parts of the world is reasonably complete and fairly treated.

The second part deals with the host-parasite relations of the monogeneans. It contains extensive discussions of the hosts on which these parasites have been found, as well as comparisons of these forms from different host groups.
