Chest x-ray detected a lesion in the lung of a Detroit resident with cardiac symptoms. In the resected cyst-like lesion a filarial worm was found dead in a necrotic pulmonary artery. It was identified as Dirofilaria, apparently a female, and was thought to have been acquired in South Carolina.
